The foods we eat contribute to our well-being. It provides all nutrient supplements necessary for maintaining a healthy body. The moment you start eating more than what your body want on a daily basis, the extra food will turn to fat and accumulate in various parts of the body. This is how people become obese.

Obesity is a chronic condition and it has serious long-term consequences on health. Check your Body Mass Index (BMI) to know whether you are normal weight or over weight. BMI greater than 30 indicates that you crossed the normal weight limit. It is better to maintain BMI below 30 to have a healthy body. People who are obese are at high risk of serious and chronic diseases such as heart attack, high blood pressure, stoke, diabetes, gall bladder diseases etc. Furthermore, obese people are more prone to various carcinogenic diseases like cancer.

Obesity causes

Obesity can be due to various reasons. Main reason is the imbalance between calorie necessary and over consumption, while taking consideration of age, gender, genes and environmental factors. When the food you eat provides more calories than what is needed, the excess will be converted to fat. Primarily, the fat cell increases in size, then it starts to multiply in number. When an obese person reduces his weight the size of the fat cells decrease, but the number of fat cells still remains the same.

Some of the factors that contribute to obesity are genes, lifestyle, uncontrolled emotions, environmental factors, sex, age and pregnancy. Certain medical conditions like depression, polycystic ovarian syndrome, cushing syndrome etc. can also cause obesity.

If you are obese and don’t know how to reduce it, then it is better to consult a doctor. Ayurvedic medicine for Weight Loss proved to be successful in almost all cases.
